I came by today to see you
Though I had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time,
I'd have held you and never let go
Oh it's kept me awake night wonderin'
Lie in the dark, just asking "why?"
I've always been told you won't be called home until it's your time
I guess Heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up for what you believe and follow it though
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is that Heaven was needing a hero like you
Kirah had oh so sought out the comforts of her room to cry the tears of regret and shame. Kirah sat at her desk fingering a small amulet that she wore around her neck. How so she missed the love of her life. Today was the anniversary the day she had met him and the day she lost him. She felt responsible he had told her to run away on the battlefield he would hold off the troops while she did so. He had then kissed her and Kirah moved her hand to her lips almost remembering the soft touch and how much it affected her. The salty warm tears making clean streaks down her dirt streaked face from the herb garden and going over and over in her head why had she ran away she could have fought beside him the cowardly Lady Luck leaving her lover on the war path. His lips and hands all over her body and yet she lost him that day and along with that a part of her. Amber eyes misted over again and clutched the amulet to her chest.
When she had impersonated a soldier and went off to join the ranks. She was so happy she did or she wouldnt have met him and in doing so she found happiness after so many years of loneliness. He was the only one who knew her secret the only woman on the battlefront. The secret lovers until she was found out while bathing in the stream by enemy troops and then she had ran running into her commanding officer and he blamed her for leading the enemy straight for them. The enemies invaded their camp setting fire to their encampment killing the sleeping soldiers leaving a bloody massacre. Her lover running to her rescue clothing her sword in hand and looking at her with loving eyes though they were worried. There he told her to runaway him giving the small amulet he had always worn in war saying it was good luck. Kirah had smiled kissed him passionately murmured to each other their love for one another and that he would find her when everything was over with. From there Kirah was urged to run by Soto and then he himself ran into the enemy clutches his victorious battle cry heard above the war.
Now here Kirah was five years later remembering the sad separation and loss of her hero and love and all those soldiers who lost their lives including his even though they never found his body. Kirah lifted her head wiping tears quickly away at the knock on her door it was Rose telling her the tavern guys were asking for a singer since their hadnt shown up. Kirah smiled her sister knew what today was since she was the only one who knew where Kirah had run off for a year. Kirah pulled herself from the desk donning on her silken white gown and braiding her hair away from her face forgetting the tiara for once. She didnt want to be noticed but her voice was always noticed. Kirah hurried to the tavern and up on the stage where she received the whistles and cat calls which she smiled and asked the drunken lards "what song s hall I sing to day ladies and gentlemen" she asked. "The ERO' SONG MI'LADY" they roared in their drunken state. Kirah nodded remembering the lyrics faintly from her mother who used to sing here. She played with her dress and straightened her form and began:
The song ended and she cursied saying quickly she was taking a break for a short moment to wet her throat. She recieved a loud applaud and couldnt help but smile and went over and order a water. After all Kirah didnt drink wasnt her habit of doing so. The cool iced water ran down her throat and all the while the song had reminded her of her lover which made her feel like crap. She fiddled with the amulet he had given her and she sighed. Since her younger days Kirah had grown and filled out quite nicely for a young wolfess. Her mane of hair longer and far more gold her white tips and other white showing off in her white gown. She thought about the song she had song and thought about her hero hadnt come home and she was pretty sure he was dead he hadnt come for her like he promised Kirah felt her eyes mist and she blinked quickly hiding the tears and forgetting about it she had to move along in her life but deep down she didnt want to.
I remember the last time I saw you
Oh you held your head up proud
I laughed inside when I saw how you were, standing out in the crowd
You're such a part of who I am
Now that part will just be void
No matter how much I need you now
Heaven needed you more
'Cause Heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up for what you believe and follow it though
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is that Heaven was needing a hero like you
Yes, Heaven was needing a hero...that's you.
Though I had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time,
I'd have held you and never let go
Oh it's kept me awake night wonderin'
Lie in the dark, just asking "why?"

Out of the mist of history he'll come again
Sailing on ships across the sea to a wounded nation
Signs of a savior and fire on the water
It's what we prayed for, one of our own
Just wait though wide he may roam
Always a hero comes home
He goes where no one has gone
But always a hero comes home
Deep in the heart of darkness sparks a dream of light
Surrounded by hopelessness he finds the will to fight
There's no surrender, always remember
It doesn't end here, we're not alone
Just wait though wide he may roam
Always a hero comes home
He goes where no one has gone
But always a hero comes home
And he will come back on a crimson tide
Dead or alive
And even though we know the bridge has burned
He will return... He will return!
Just wait though wide he may roam
Always a hero comes home
He knows of places unknown
But always a hero comes home
Someday he may carve his stone
The hero comes home
He goes and comes back alone
But always a hero comes home
Just wait though wide he may roam
Always a hero come home!
Sailing on ships across the sea to a wounded nation
Signs of a savior and fire on the water
It's what we prayed for, one of our own
Just wait though wide he may roam
