PC Name: Keltset
Gender: Male
Age: 33 (Equivalent Human Age)
Species: Otter
Other Species: Sea Otter
Appearance/Attire: Keltset is a huge, burly sea otter. Not only is he tall, but he is muscular and strong. Granuaile is dwarfed next to him. Keltset usually wears a simple tunic and pants, nothing special, just what he needs to get by. He wears a bandolier diagonally across his chest. He collects knives and his array dangles from the bandolier. Aside from blades, Keltset prefers paw to paw fighting and is a formidable warrior. His dark brown fur and plank-like tail is marred all over by numerous silver and pink scars, attesting to the turmoil of his younger days. Keltset is mute owing to a wound he received in those days. But over the years he's learned sign language and can communicate through this. Miraculously through all the combat in his youth Keltset's eyes survived intact. The deep orbs are deep brown, with emerald highlights which are sometimes visible. They are full of kindness and wisdom, but also a fierce strength.

Desired or Present Occupation: Present occupation, soldier of fortune. Desired, to be a member of the Twilight Trackers
Weaknesses and Fears: Fears: Failure, losing Granuaile, being trapped / Weaknesses: Granuaile, lack of speech, some of the newer scars sometimes pain him, hatred of vermin
Strengths and Desires: Desires: To stay with Granuaile forever, to be as honorable as he can, to speak again / Strengths: Skilled in paw fighting, very strong, handy with blades
Personality: Keltset is a sweet boy on the inside, but years of mistreatment have covered his true heart in a shell of angry hate. Vermin are a weakness of his. If he spots one or gets word of one nearby, he will drop everything and attack. This blind hatred is dangerous when he is with young ones. He loves children very much, and is very kind and gentle with them. He is a great favorite with the young'uns who live near him. The parents try to discourage their offspring’s involvement with the fierce warrior, but the children constantly flock to Keltset anyway. Outside of vermin, the mute otter is on the whole gentle and nice to everyone who is the same to him. He is incredibly loyal to Granuaile and would do anything for her, even unto death. But death doesn't come easily to the otter, who has survived countless skirmishes and has the scars to prove it. Tough and battle-savvy, Keltset is dependable and stubborn, demanding respect from peers and giving as good as he gets.
History: Keltset was originally an abused slave, a sea otter whose people were torn by famine and war that humanitarian justice never touched. For generations, Keltset's people, the otters, had been abused without respite by vermin, who used the peaceable otters as petty performers and slaves. Keltset was born into a family still embroiled in this brutal conflict, so it was, perhaps, inevitable that he grew up hating all vermin with a vengeance. Keltset was born of two slaves, one of whom died soon after and whose name was soon lost forever. Keltset's father sought a useful outlet for his son's anger by teaching him to throw himself into work with a single mind. The young otter proved himself an excellent worker and performer, with a mind as finely honed as any weapon; by two years of age he had already become an expert. However, he still could not fully master his anger and hatred. He often got into fights and was whipped often for his insolence. One day the young otter finally had enough. He strode into the midst of the vermin headquarters and went berserk. He killed many of them before they subdued him. They beat him nearly to death and threw his limp body into the river. He floated dangerously close to death until he was rescued by a Clan of mice living in a desert far to the south. They saved his life. Keltset found he could no longer speak, but was eternally grateful to the mice for saving him. When the mouse chieftain's children were born, Keltset saw that the youngest, the only girl, was less valuable to her family and took it upon himself to protect her and watch over her. He loved her dearly and she loved him. Keltset enjoyed life among the mouse tribe, but Granuaile, his charge, became more and more dissatisfied until she finally left home for good. Uncomplaining, Keltset went with her. The two wander now together, as soldiers of fortune. But that soon will change, as Keltset and Granuaile look into joining the Foot Troops at Fort Emerald Bay.
