Name: | Shiloh “Fuddlepaws” Tumbletin |
Gender: | Male |
Age: | 15 |
Species: | Gray Squirrel |
Eye Color: | Brown |
Fur Color | Like most squirrels of his species, Shiloh’s fur is gray with faint black tips along his tail. In contrast, his underbelly is white |
Attire / Jewelry: | Shiloh dresses in anything that feels comfortable. He likes to keep his tunics neat and his pants whole, but being the clumsy squirrel that he is, you’ll always find him with rips in his clothing. He usually favors red or gold and he absolutely detests wearing black. Not enough personality in the color. The only jewelry he wears is a lucky charm bracelet that his little sister made for him. It’s beaded and has a silver star charm; her favorite shape. |
Physical Description / Tattoos / Markings: | Shiloh’s of average height. There’s nothing really that special about him. His scruffy headfur is black and he wears thick spectacles on his nose that constantly seem to get broken. Though clean, Shiloh often looks a bit unkempt like he’s lived a hard life on the road, which is far from the truth. Despite his ruddy appearance, Shiloh’s pretty well off. He’s just one of your average squirrels. |
Weaponry: | He’s proficient with the staff and learning to use the bow.(Piece of advice, stay far away from him when he’s training). He likes the feel of daggers in his paws, but he’s not certain yet if he can wield them. |
Desired or Present Occupation / Goals: | Shiloh’s not certain where he plans to go. At the moment, he’s on his rite of passage so he’s willing to try just about anything. |
Goals, Hopes and Dreams: | Being so young and inexperienced, Shiloh doesn’t know what to expect of the future. He hopes to find a mate and have a family one day, but that’s a long way down the road. For now, he just wants to travel the world and learn to become a responsible, less clumsy, adult. Shiloh enjoys reading and writing so he also intends to become a scholar. Now if only he can find a teacher or some library to study in. Deep down, Shiloh also hopes to become a great cook. |
Weaknesses, Fears and Dislikes: | Spiders. Shiloh is terrified of spiders. He doesn’t know why, he only knows that a single spider can send him staggering into the nearest tree. On a deeper note, Shiloh also fears failure. He wants to make his parents and little sister proud of him, but he’s afraid that he’ll fail his rite of passage. He’s already had to return home once without any knowledge to bring with him. He doesn’t want to do it again. Shiloh’s biggest weakness is that he’s inexperienced. He’s often too trusting, and he can’t fight very well quite yet. He’s also, as has been stated, a clumsy little squirrel who needs to learn grace and poise. It’s a wonder he hasn’t fallen out of a tree yet. Last weakness: Hotroot soup…or any food for that matter. |
Strengths, Talents and Likes: | For one so young, Shiloh is actually rather intelligent. He loves to read and can spend hours locked up in his room, lost within the worlds in his books. He’s a fair writer and he also is a little talented in the field of art. Shiloh knows how to captivate audiences with stories of epic battles between good and evil. He spent a month in Redwall and learned some fantastic tales which he is only too eager to share. Shiloh also loves hotroot soup. While typically made for otters, Shiloh found the recipe and has been eating the soup every since. He jokes that he could take on any otter any day since he loves the soup extra hot. If you wish to keep your meal, never put a bowl of hotroot soup in front of Shiloh’s nose. |
Personality / Mental Description: | Perky. That’s the first word that comes to mind when most beasts first meet Shiloh. He’s a happy, little squirrel who will chitter your ear off until he puts you to sleep. He’s an energetic young lad with a very confident spirit. Yet, despite his confidence, he doesn’t have a big ego. He’s not too proud to admit when he’s wrong, and he’s always willing to ask for help. He’s lived a good life and believes that all beasts can find happiness. Some creatures call him an optimist. Some say he’s foolish to look at the world with such an innocent, hopeful eye. In truth, Shiloh hasn’t faced many hardships or despair in his life. It will come as a hard blow when the weight of the world finally falls on his shoulders. |
History: | There’s not much to tell about Shiloh because he hasn’t lived much of his life yet. As a babe, he grew up in a small squirrel tribe south of Redwall. He was raised by his mother, Ulma, his father, Josius, and his grandmother, Lilleth. He was adored by his family and he was sheltered from the evils of the world throughout his childhood. When he turned three, his sister Jizette was born. Shiloh was, and still is, a proud big brother. Whenever someone would try to pick on Jizette, he was there to defend her. Like many young squirrels, Shiloh and other squirrels his age, met with the elders to learn how to read, write, and understand the world. Shiloh did well in his studies, except when it came to math. Oh, he hated math… In school, he was not very popular. He was constantly the target of ridicule due to his clumsy paws, his passion for reading, and his over-chatty personality. Bullies picked on him and gave him the nickname “fuddlepaws” which he still hates to this day. He was beaten up a few times, but that never seemed to get his spirits down. “At least I made their paws sore!” he would say cheerfully while his mother dabbed his bloody lip with a cloth. When he was a bit older, his family decided that he needed to learn how to become a proper squirrel. Other squirrels his age were sent off to the world and told to find their adultselves. Shiloh had been dreading that day for about a year, but he knew he had to go off and face the big, scary world. Jizette gave him a small charm bracelet for good luck while his father blessed him with his bow, and his mother gave him a nice new cloak. For a month, he found an old squirrel who taught him how to use the staff and the bow. Unfortunately, Shiloh grew very homesick during the second month, and he tried to go home. Firmly, his father pushed him back out the door, and Shiloh has been on the road ever since. He now heads in the direction of Emerald Bay in hopes of becoming an adult, and possibly turning into one of the heroes he reads so fervently about. |
